Frosty Winter

Winter has arrived far earlier than I wanted and only a tad earlier than normal. I am used to Summer being filled with sunlight, noise, people, and smiles. I always look forward to the downtown activities, festivals, fairs, and local vendors. But of course, most if not all, have been canceled this year. So Summer didn’t really feel like it ever happened. It felt like it was on pause, and once play was pressed again everything would return to normal.

But I think with winter here I am starting to realize it wasn’t a pause button, it was a skip. Winter is here and summer 2020 didn’t really happen. So now is the time to buckle down for the cold and bring out the hot chocolate.

Yesterday morning I woke up to the rain having turned to ice and my car an ice cube. I had to chip away the ice before I could even pull open my door. And then I had to sit and wait for the windshield to defrost as the scrapper did nothing on how thick it was.

This morning, I woke to very heavy fog and 21 degrees. My nose and mouth started to dry out and when I sighed I could see my breath. This reminds me to get a face mask for when it drops to the negatives and all moisture freezes while you struggle to breath.

So, I hope you can at least marvel at how pretty frost is and I hope you also have a cup or hot chocolate and some cookies.

Hope we have a good winter!

  1. I had the same feeling… how could it be winter if summer felt like it didn’t really happened… It was a huge lesson on respecting the cycles and let go of expectations or desire to change what is. Love your pics!
